Shania Aquila Grosvenor Obituary

Shania Aquila Grosvenor was born in Bridgetown, Barbados on January 15th, 2003 at 12:14 PM. She was the second daughter to her mother Joanne Grosvenor and the first daughter to her father Raymond Forde. Shania migrated to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 2 years old. Shania was raised by her mother and sister Shanice Grosvenor along with immediate family   members. Shania went to Medgar Evers Head Start which back then was located in the Park Slope area and graduated Pre-K in 2008. Shania went to elementary school PS 6 and graduated in 2014, MS 138 and graduated in 2017 and Science Skills High School where she graduated a year early in 2020. Shania went to college at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) where she finished her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, September 2023. Shania was accepted into The City College of New York, Hunter College and Brooklyn College (which were the only three colleges she applied to) to continue on with her Bachelors in the summer of 2023. She had decided to start her new journey at The City College of New York; Center For Worker Education; the college she really wanted to get into to continue her studies.

Shania was not only a student but also a woman of MANY talents. She made graphic design art of ANYTHING with her Ipad and Apple pencil, crochet ANYTHING; clothes, blankets, bags, key rings, booties, teddy bears, pillows and so much more. canvas art, made business cards and event flyers for people of their vision. She also would draw your idea of a tattoo for you and make it come to life right before your eyes. Shania’s hands were very gifted. You can check her social media accounts and see for yourself.

Shania also came up with the business Xclusive Culture LLC where she and her sister, Shanice Grosvenor worked together and sold lip glosses, shea butters and candles. Shania made the lip glosses and shea butters but was always a help to her sister with the candles. Even though Shania and her sister were selling lip glosses, shea butters and candles, initially Xclusive Culture LLC is a clothing business. Shania loves sweat suits and has hundreds, if not thousands of beautiful, creative awesome sweat suit designs she drew with her own hands on her Ipad. These designs Shania and her sister always planned to bring to life. These designs will be brought to life.

In Shania's spare time, she loved listening to music but afro beats are her favorite, soca second, then anything after those two. She also had a love for French from learning French in high school. She would often sing French songs and also write in French, like her birthday age, or a nice quote in French. Shania also loved coffee. Iced coffee specifically but she would drink any. She loved her Starbucks coffee cups which her best friend, Kinsley always made sure to gift her with three or four. If Shania was not reading, being in class or watching episodes of divorce court, anime or one of her other favorite shows, she was on the phone with her great grandmother, grandmother or mother or on FaceTime laughing with her friends.

Shania also known as “Niia or Niya,” “Sha,” “baby girl,” “Nye Nye,” “NiaNia,” was a very loving and sweet daughter, sister, granddaughter, great granddaughter, niece, cousin, aunt and the best friend you can ever ask for. Shania was 20 years old when she passed away in her home Tuesday morning November 7th, 2023. Shania was a beautiful gem in everyone’s eyes. Her kindness, smile, talent, vibes and beautiful energy was memorable and would light up a room. Her laugh was so contagious and beautiful. Shania always made everyone feel welcomed and okay to be themselves. She was shy at times but she always made sure that each and every one of us meant something to her. She was truly the most beautiful, caring sweet person ever in all our lives and now she is our beautiful angel. Our sweet girl Shania who will always be with us and her name will live on. Rest in peace baby girl.
