Kavion Jamal Brown Godfrey had a smile that would light up the world. Kavion was a person who cared about everyone he knew, even those whom he had just met. His laughter was contagious, and his hugs were healing to the soul.
Kavion was born on December 5th, 2009 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. He was a big and beautiful baby, weighing 9lbs 3oz. and 21 and a half inches long. He was to become the oldest of four brothers and was very proud of being the first born and the big brother.
He attended PS/MS 34, Tompkins Square Middle School, LESP and participated in extracurricular activities and programs at The Go Project.
In Middle School, Kavion played both basketball and football. He was so happy to have his cousin, Jahmel Lewis, play football with him. His multiple athletic talents led to him being scouted to a high school to continue his basketball success. In sports, as in life, he was a leader. He was smart, helpful to those around him, and athletic. He was a true champion.
Kavion loved and was deeply loved by family. He would always want to be with his cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandmothers. They shared a special kind of love for one another.
Standing at 6’3” at 162 pounds, Kavion loved to dance, sing, compete, and play. Even at 6’3,” he was still and always will be Mommy and Daddy’s baby boy.

He leaves behind his adoring parents, Laquana Badger Godfrey and Donnell Godfrey; three brothers, Donnell Jr., Davon, and Donzell Godfrey, along with his grandmothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and a community who loved him dearly.
